Pace continued to exercise control over her hair loss. She doesn't want to be bald.
Those of us with hair should keep our feelings about bad hair days to ourselves when in the presence of the "follically challenged.
Going bald has psychological ramifications no one understands unless they've gone bald. It's definately traumatic for men.
However for women, baldness visually screams "I've got cancer".
By allowing her head to be a Mendhi Canvas, Pace's head is never bare and the emphasis shifts from "oh poor dear she lost her hair" to "very cool" or "that's different" and most often, "you look great, what a good idea." Jonathon really made my day when he commented, "OMG! I feel like I'm in Tribeca and she looks like some really cool artist who's a part of the scene."
Then there's the gratitude you get in seeing inspiration. Our friend Lisa helps heal children through art therapy and she thinks Mendhi could be an excellent therapeutic tool for the young cancer fighters in her charge.
Best of all it's not there for life!
